One of Ellesmere Port’s best-known community spaces is set to begin a new chapter this September as the former Flea Market reopens its doors for live music, culture and events.
The launch event, taking place on Saturday 12 September 2026 and promoted by Ellesmere Port Collective CIC and Primordia Live, will transform the newly redeveloped Flea Market into a live music venue for the day. Headlining the event will be acclaimed songwriter and Ellesmere Port native Ian Prowse with his band Amsterdam. The bill will also showcase local talent, including Blue Dolphin Wranglers, Joe Massey and Elle Graham.
For generations of local people, the building has simply been known as “The Flea Market”. The space has undergone significant redevelopment as part of wider investment in Ellesmere Port town centre, and The Council in cooperation with Ellesmere Port Collective CIC are keen to celebrate both its heritage and its future potential.
The Market Warehouse has been created as a new events and cultural brand, with a vision to bring live music, entertainment, community events and creative activity back into the heart of Ellesmere Port.
The redeveloped Flea Market now features a new bar, modern toilet facilities and professional event infrastructure, allowing the space to host live music, entertainment and community events for the first time in many years.
The launch event will provide audiences with their first opportunity to experience the transformed space in a new way, showcasing what could become a regular destination for live entertainment and community activity within the town centre.
Luke Done, co-director of Ellesmere Port Collective CIC, said:
“Most people in Ellesmere Port will always know this building as The Flea Market, and that’s something worth celebrating. It has a huge place in the town’s history.
What we’re excited about is showing what the space can become. Through The Market Warehouse, we want to create memorable experiences that bring people together, support local artists and help establish culture as an important part of Ellesmere Port’s future.”
